A reference register of banks, kept by Global Purchasing Solutions LLC to check the counterparties of its own trade deals. It is not a bank.

What the register holds

Measured on 5 October 2026: 10,466 banks, each tied to its official register record. 6,243 hold a SWIFT code and a Legal Entity Identifier, in 196 countries; 4,223 are insured banks of the United States. Behind them stands the full register of 3,451,551 legal entities. The registers are refreshed every day.

Where the data comes from

The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) for legal entities and their SWIFT codes, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for the insured banks of the United States. A website on record names its source: the official register where one publishes it.

What it is used for

Before a deal moves, the bank named in it is looked up here: its legal name, country, registration status and identifier are compared with the documents. A bank that cannot be found in an official register is a reason to stop and verify.
